*** Theft Alert ***

From the local SCCA forum:

Folks:

Jim Lockhart's VW shop was broken into over the weekend. They were very selective in their shopping. The thieves made off with a Jetta door and trunk hatch, interior door cards from some other second and third generation VW cars, and the wheels to my 1997 GTI, which were 4x100 5 spoke OEM alloys with VW center caps and Toyo Proxes tires. One of them has a gash by where the lugbolts fit from me running into a steel beam hidden in some grass.

Please be on the lookout for folks selling VW stuff.

Thanks,

Wilson von Kessler

If anyone sees any of this stuff (and you're not a memeber of the SCCA forum), you can send me an e-mail and I'll pass it on to Wilson.  I hope the b***tards get caught and dealt with properly!

Well here we go again. Tis the season.  You can just about forget recovering anything.  I lost about $3,500 in tools at Jims when I worked there due to a break-in.  All the police did was to tell me : Sorry, Most of your stuff is more than likely in Alabama by now. They even told who it was, but couldn`t prove it. It was a big black dude who went by the name of " Dredlocks".  We had Dogs, alarm systems and somebody watching and S.B.s still got in. They are very slick in that part of town. Maybe you will get lucky. I hope so.

This was a speciality theft. I doubt if you ever see your parts again. They were stolen for personal use and will appear on a VW that is parobably owned by the theif himself.

I would encourage you to attend any VW show this summer that caters to the water cooled crowd and really look the cars over. I must caution you though you will have to be able to POSITIVELY ID by some type of markings, damage unique to your items, serial # or self applied #. Without being able to positively ID anything there is nothing the police can do.

I hate thieves
