"Das Bomb"

« on: January 02, 2004, 06:45:19 PM »
The Eberspacher BA6 Gasoline Heater is installed after 3 afternoons of laying on my back under the bus.  I'll try to post some pics before I cover it all up with the ugly belly pan.  The last task was to hook up the fuel line which attaches under the tank with a 3/8 NOT a 1/4 hose!!!   I have had a bath and gotten the gasoline out of my nose and feel much better.  My sinuses haven't been this clear in weeks.  I'm waiting until tomorrow to start it so the gas evaporates and there's more light.  Wish me luck!

I have not had any experience with the gas heaters at all but have a good friend who swears by them. Good Luck with yours.

Been there, done that!  Nothing like a good dose of 91 octane to get rid of a nasty winter cold!   :D

I've been thinking about getting a gas heater for Homer.  Yep, just the other day I was sitting on the side of the road shivering from the cold and thinking, "a gas heater would be nice about now."  Then I thought . . . "come to think of it, GAS would be nice about now!"  :(

Well, I 've still got the BA4 from that 79 bus I got last Spring. It's the one that mounts in the left of the engine compartment. I ran it for 15 minutes and it worked great.  I pulled all the ducts, wires, cables, timer, etc. so it's complete except for one little knob for the cable that goes under the seat, which would use any knob.  Just let me know if you want it before I get around to eBaying it.

It ran fine.  Which was good considering I had to pull all the wires out of the MPC to fit the harness through the hole under the front of the bus.  Puts out nice, hot air and more volume through the front than the boxes.  Seems funny to be doing it on a 70 degree day in January! ???

Well, it's not 70 outside anymore!  I gave it its first real test yesterday in 25 degree temps.  It raised the temp 10 deg in the 10 minutes before I started the bus and about 40 deg in the 20 minute trip.  I think the last part has a lot to do with the recirculating air plus the warm(er) air from the heater boxes going through the gas heater when the bus is on.  When the bus is not running, it all recirculates.

Joy drove Sunny (the 75 convertible) to work.  I drove Homer the Super(cold)bus.
