Russ, don't know if you got the private message with the VolksFolks News link that I sent you or not cause I got a message back that said I couldn't post so soon after my previous post. The odd thing is that I haven't posted since this morning (to the forum) and haven't sent any other PM's in a while. Don't know what is up with that.
Anyway, here is the url to the pdf of the VolksFolks News that is on my VolksFolks web space:

Let me know if you have any problem downloading it.[/quote]

IM problems

« Reply #2 on: October 24, 2004, 12:26:33 AM »
Russ, did you ever get the IM's fixed? Mine still doesn't work. I still get the same message every time I submit an IM or PM. It says:

You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while.

What gives? Do I have a setting wrong or something?

I still don't know what's causing it. I have IMs disabled for now. If you have any ideas, let me know!

Quick thought Russ, check the stock IPB settings and modules (if it's like phpBB2) with this version you have here on the site to see what's different and maybe one of those things could be causing a problem. And, also, make sure the settings on this custom skin are configured correctly too. A friend of mine changed some code on a skin for phpBB2 and ended up making everything in capital letters and couldn't figure out how to turn it back.

Thanks for the advice but I'm not using IPB, the banner at the bottom just says that to deter would-be script kiddies looking for vulnerable phpBB installations to deface. It also has nothing to do with a skin, as I'm just using the default subSilver template.

The problem is we set the date on the server one year ahead at some point to test something, and that seems to have interfered with phpBB's ability to evaluate the last time a message was sent. I've backed off all the timestamps I could find in the database that were still in in the future and some people are still unable to send IMs. I turned the feature back on though just to see what happens.
