Hummmm . . . I didn't even think about that.   8-[

The club just leased space on a new server.  I'm "thinking" that we can set up email accounts on this new server, but I'm not 100% sure.  Russ???  Can you bail me out before Bugz starts throwing things at me?  Bugz . . . I feel your pain!  I went on vacation in November and when I came back to work they had changed email servers . . . I found out Monday morning that any email you didn't have backed by Midnight Sunday was lost forever.  I hope I haven't put you in the same boat!   8-[

web site update

« Reply #4 on: February 18, 2006, 06:26:51 PM »
Okay, I still don't have my email and what is worse, since the servers are changed I also lost my entire website as well as the VolksFolks News website. Will this be restored soon? I've got to have access to my files so that I can back them up. I wish y'all had given us some notice about changing. :(

I'm pretty sure that things are being worked on, but almost all of the links on the home page are not working.  Which ones?  Articles, events, guestbook, vw news, mailing list.  Those that are working have several error warnings on the pages.
Just thought I would try to be specific. :D

We've got a pretty large site and overall I'm surprise how smoothly the changeover went.  But, I wish I'd of given everyone that used Volksfolks email and web space notice too!  The bottom line is, I didn't think the first thing about these ahead of time.   :tard:

Russ, are Bugz and Gobusgo's files forever lost in cyberspace, or can they be set up on our new server?

Russ, the homepage seems to be stuck on February 13th.  The automatically updated stuff (newest forum post, news, etc. ) hasn't updated since the move and the Today in VW History won't show anything but the Feb. 13th.

Also, the pages don't seem to want to load correctly on Mac's. My forum pages are missing the Scenic City Volks Folks header at the top of the pages.

Ok I think I have most of the issues with the site straightened out now. Most of the links and script paths have been fixed, and for some reason the cron job that updates the main page doesn't work on the new host, so I made the main page "live" again (no delay or cache).

Unfortunately hosted email and web space did not get copied over, and it's not available anymore since the old server went away  I can set it up again for you on the new server, if you send an email to webmaster@volksfolks.org and ask, I'll send back new instructions on how to set it up. Sorry for all the inconveniences and downtime.

So I guess that means I've lost my entire portfolio, web site and all my personal and club support files?

If you have a backup, I can create you a new account and restore it from that. Otherwise, I'm sorry, yes.
