What type of image is it? The forum accepts most types under 5MB.

Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say?

Russ ,  Linda and I bought a new monitor. It came with a D-Sub con. and a DVI con and the instructions said to plug them both into the monitor and computer. My Mini Mac came with a adapter to do this( if I can find it) I guess my question is " What in the Hell is a DVI cord, what does it do, would it improve something or is it worth messing with ? All I have going is the D-Sub and everything seems to work OK.

The easiest way to post a pic is...go to www.photobucket.com and create a free photo album. Up load anysize pic into it and then after you upload it just copy and paste the IMG code that is under the picture and it will not only post it but it will resize it too. So it won't matter what size the pic is. Post the IMG code right here in this box. Not down below where it says browse. Always start it on it's own line too. You can post more than one pic too. Just alwys sart them on thier own line.

That works too, but I prefer it when people attach images to their posts here rather than link them. Photobucket and other free image hosting sites are pretty slow, have limited bandwidth and if the picture is deleted or moved then it creates a broken image in the post.

I'm considering an upgrade to phpBB3 which has, among other things, improved image uploading support.

When you upgrade to phpBB3 aren't you going to lose all the posted attachments too?

Nope! They are preserved in the upgrade, I've already tested it out.

I don't intend on losing anything, however there is a lot of custom stuff and some mods in our current setup that will need some work and scripting to upgrade, the calendar being one of them. It'll take me some time to sort it all  out, and a lot of late nights and Mountain Dew.

Godfather,

I missed your question first time around. DVI is a different type of connector for your computer and display. It's digital, rather than analog, and usually gives you a brigher, clearer picture. It's pretty much the standard now on all monitors, especially the flat LCD ones.

What you've probably got is a VGA cable connected right now, which should also work just fine. I may have a DVI cable around here, if so I can swing by sometime and we'll try it out.

Russ, We bought a Samsung 20" flat screen and it came with the DVI and the D-Sub cables. I just can't find the adapter for the Mini. Im running with the D-Sub cable only. If I can't find the adapter is there anything else I can use ?   Aftermarket ???

I think the adapter is attached to the mini! Those things have DVI connections on the back, the adapter is for VGA. I bet if you removed the adapter from the back you could plug the DVI cable straight in.

I know because we just sold a mini like yours and I specifically looked at the adapter tonight.

If you need me to, I can resize it for you. Email it to webmaster@volksfolks.org and I'll be glad to help.
