I got a Sun Bug Brochure! - Cheap on e(vil)Bay

« on: January 23, 2002, 07:39:32 AM »
I've been looking for a Sun Bug Brochure ever since I got my Sun Bug.  I finally ran across one on eBay with a starting bid of $14.95 . . . then the next day found another starting out at $9.95 . . . then yesterday I caught this auction just before it ended and got one for $4.95 + $2.00 shipping!  It also came with a 1968 VW Air Conditioning Brochure, Some 1975 La Grande Bug literature and a copy of the 1967 introductory issue of Small World!

Good deal!  Pays to be patient and shop around, eh?  I "stole" a BA6 gas heater for $50, because it was listed under "Vanagon Westfalia gas heater" instead of "VW Bus", or something.  Most of those have been over $100!   :sly:

Sometimes you just get lucky with eBay . . . there really wasn't much differance between these two auctions:

1975 Volkswagen Sun Bug Brochure, Song Score

It started at $14.95, ran for 10 days and didn't get any bids.  Surely it wasn't because he listed the wrong year and didn't put VW in the title.

1974 VW Volkswagen Sun Bug Brochure Mint

This one started 5 days later at $9.95, and also ran for 10 days.  This afternoon it ended at $51!!!!

Both of those auctions were going on when the auction I won ended.  And mine, with extras, was only $6.95 including shipping!  Mine was titled "1968 Volkswagen, Sunbug, La Grande Bug, S-W" but did have "1974 Sun Bug" and a very good description of the brochure in the description section . . . but if you were just searching titles for "Sun Bug" or "VW" you wouldn't find this one.

Uh oh, I feel my eBay addiction taking hold again!  :spank:

I've finally scanned and uploaded the Sun Bug brochure, but if you have a slow connection (as in Dial Up), it will take you a while to download the high resolution pictures.

I've also fixed some links (I think) and uploaded some other cool stuff.  Go to my Vintage Literature Page and check out the introductory issue of Small World from 1967.  :)
