Hallmark Collectible Herbie

« on: December 29, 2004, 04:39:15 PM »
It may too late now to find one but Hallmark had a really good replica of the Herbie car as one of their collectible Christmas ornaments this year.  The Hallmark store at the mall was out of them by Thanksgiving but I was able to pick one up at Kohl's last week.  There may still be a few floating around out there during the after Christmas sales.

 :)

I don't think there are any left ANYWHERE!!!   Dee lookied and looked and looked and was finally able to buy the display at one store. All the rest everywhere she looked were gone. The car is really neat though. It's a little bit bigger than 1/64th scale and the doors open. It's really detailed.  :D

Joy's niece works for Hallmark . . . she's looking for some for us.  She'll be able to get them half price IF she can find any.  I'll get all of them she can find.  I'll let y'all know if we end up with any extras.

I had asked about buying the display at the Hallmark at Hamilton Place and they couldn't sale it at that time.  They are really neat and actually kinda heavy hanging on the tree.

We went to Dalton, Ga today to Walnut Square Mall. There are two stores that have (had) the Hallmark ornaments. No Herbies were to be found at either store.

GOOD GRIEF!!!! They were just $14 or $15 in the stores when they had them. I'm sure glad my wife found me one. They are really neat cars but I don't know if they are $24 neat.

:-k Hummm . . . let's think about this . . .

They were $14 in the stores a month or so ago.  They sell for $28.50 (includes shipping) now.  That's almost doubling your money in a month.  At that rate, every dollar invested in VW Toys today is going to be worth about $4096 in a year.

That's just what I needed to hear.  I gott'a go.  Wal-Mart is calling!   \:D/

I got one off eBay for $25 a few years ago, but the person that had it up for auction had mis-spelled Volkswagen and Beetle and didn't mention Jim Beam in the title.  I think I was the only person to find his auction . . . no one else bid.  Most of them at the time were going for over $50.

But, they seem to have dropped in value since then.  I just went and looked at eBay, and there are 4 up for auction now.  The most expensive one is $16.27 with only 9 hours left . . . and it is still sealed with the bourbon is still inside.  I might have to bid on that one . . .   :-k
