Came across this beetle in a pile of toy cars in a local antique store today. It is missing one wheel and one of the arms is broke, other than that it is complete. At only a buck I thought it was a good buy.

In beetle mode

In transformer mode

I have no idea what bumblebee is (for my generation a transformer is something up on utility poles) so I guess it is generic

That is a Go bot.  They were a rival copycat cartoon and toy line of the Transformers.

I've got two of those . . . one is in decent shape but I don't have a clue where it is.  Guess it's packed away in a plastic tote somewhere.  The other is sitting on top of my computer monitor.  An old guy Joy bought some porch swings from gave it to her.  It's beat up and I can't get it to open . . . but hey, it was free.   Looks like yours is in great shape, especially for a buck!  8)

That's "Bug Bite", a 1st gen Renegade Gobot.

http://www.tfu.info/Gobots/Renegades/BugBite/bugbite.htm

And yes, VW won't license their name or image to anything they think is associated with war (still culturally sensitive about WWII) so Bumblebee will be a Camaro in the new movie instead.

I too have one of those, it's sitting in my glass case with all of my other VW toys and I can see it from where I'm sitting right now.  I also have at least one "Bumble Bee" Transformer that I see over there as well.  What can I say, perhaps I need to grow up a little more.

No in the Transformers movie all of the cars are GM vehicles and that is why Bumblebee is not a VW.  The movie looks like it is going to be terrible, in fact the only thing they have gotten right about it is getting the original voice of Optimus Prime to be his voice.

YES... only because VWoA would not license it... ever wonder why there are less fillmore toys made than the rest of the cars movies? cause of the amount of money they have to pay to VW to produce those toys... we're lucky the new herbie movie was a VW (or were we?)

Do a quick search on google (or your search engine of choice)... there are quite a few threads on VW forums about this. there are also a few threads on other types of forums, so i don't think it's just us VW people that think VWoA is out to get them again.

I've been seeing Fillmore's everywhere lately personally; however, mostly in the two pack with Sarge who is also hard to find. I've actually had a harder time finding the other stock cars in the Cars toy line(Leak Less, Nitroade, Chick) than I've had finding Fillmores. I've only seen one Leak Less and Nitroade ever.

Yeah you're right... VWoA is pretty easy to get licsencing from... I guess they just wanted to make the new transformer movie all GM to market more GM products. thanks for the heads up on that one.
