Build VWs From Paper!

« on: April 03, 2004, 10:05:35 PM »
On our club "links" page, there is a link to a site that lets you choose the colors and print out a Split Window Bus that you cut out and paste together into a 3-D model.  I had seen the same type plan of a Bug before, so I did a search to try to find one . . . check out some of the paper model plans I found!  (most of these are foreign sites)

http://www.papermodel.de/ -- Click on "Modelles" and scroll down through all the models . . . there is a Split Window Bug and the model below it is a matching Teardrop Camper Trailer!

http://jns.ixla.jp/users....RL=http -- A Golf.

http://www.splitwindow.ch/split_bastel/bastelbogen.html -- A nice Ragtop Split Window Bus.

http://www.vw-karmann-ghia.de/badura/pictures/models/scholz.big.jpeg -- A Karmann Ghia Cabrio.

http://shizuoka.cool.ne.jp/serishin/delopaper.html -- Not a VW, but I thought Jai might like it!

http://members.aol.com/myherbie63/index2.html -- Herbie!  The background is red . . . get rid of it in a graphics program or get ready to change your color cartridge!

There are more where those came from!  I'll post some more later!

http://www.pat.hi-ho.ne.jp/nao_u/beetle/papercraft.jpg -- This one looks like about a 65-66 Beetle to me.

http://www.oldcars.co.jp/paper/paper.html -- This page has two pretty easy to build Split Window Panel Buses.

http://www.pre67vw.co.uk/downloads/files/beetleplan.pdf -- An Oval Window Beetle with lots of detail!

http://www.kdf-wagen.de/misc/gen_frame.htm?e?bus_bausatz -- A Split Window Bus.  On a scale of 1 (easiest) to 10 (hardest) this one probably rates a 25.  8 Pages of parts to cut out and fold . . . 2 pages of instructions in German.  Where most of the others were just a shell, this one has a paper frame, paper suspension and steering parts . . .

http://www.kdf-wagen.de/misc/gen_frame.htm?e?pr_bausatz -- The single cab version of the model above.

http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/%7Earu/papercraft/index_papercraft.html -- This page has two Cabrios.

Zen brought a couple of these paper models to our "gathering "yesterday and they are really neat. He told me about one bus in particular that is extremly detailed.

http://www.peterjvisser.demon.nl/links2.html -- Found the links to these and thousands of other paper cars on this links page.  There are also links to models of buildings, airplanes, spaceships, etc., etc., etc.  If you can make it out of paper, you can find the plans and instructions here!
