I was worried with this od solinoid.  Got a o ring at Ace.  Grinded  out a groove on the solinoid.  Got a little c clamp. to hold the part on since I righty tighty ,  When I should have lefty Lucyied.   AND SNAPPED off the bolt on one side .. I can't believed ATF.cost. 4.49.  A quart.  I poured the old ATF back in, except maybe the last 1/4 quart of sludge at bottom..  seems to run great. Shifts into od now.

I just got 22MPG on this tank. This is running  with out alternator. Disappointing..  It includes dragging a disabled Saab 10-12 miles on the stretchy rope.    That may have influenced the results.   My Saab Clutch line fix ..blew

I met a guy at a yard sale today who drove a Prius and was tubing up some Hydrogen to it. (I showed of the super Volvo)  He had the Hydrogen generator on the passenger floor board of his Prius. I told him to visit Maxi Muffler in Lafayette,   so they could show him what happened to their ceiling when their Hydrogen generator blew up in the lobby. I recommended he move the Hydrogen to the outside of the cabin.   SC

Most DIY hydrogen generators actually generate gas that is a mixture of 2 hydrogen molecules to one oxygen molecule.  It is an explosion looking for a source of ignition.  The slighest spark will set it off and it will burn with an explosive force.  It's best quality is perhaps that burning it turns it into water.  Adding a little of this gas into an internal combustion engine can have a significant effect on it's effeciency (IF it's done right, which it usually isn't) . . . but it's kind'a like Germany's Zeplins of the 1930's.  It's all good 'till that stray static spark sets off the gas.  What's REALLY scary is seeing folks who don't have a clue build a hydrogen generator in a glass jar.   :o

Update!,  Drove the VSMPGM  for 2 weeks with out the alternator.   I can got 60 miles before the electronics  start wigging out due to low voltage.  I have conked out under the CVS drive thru,  at the Dr Office on 136 and  at the the Pre-K school on 151.

I put the belt back  on the Alternator since this test is over and I am tired of hooking up a charger every day.   Filled up the tank .  Running without the Alt made no difference.  I got 25 MPG with and 25 MPG without.  One guy said that the cars computer goes into an energy saving mode when the battery is not charging and makes the injectors pulse longer to save power.  SC

Aww man! I was just thinking yesterday how we could make the braking charge the battery! I was thinking about a bicycle tire that hung a few inches over the ground and mounted just in front of the driver's door or something. Mount it on a pivot arm and rig up cables so that when you push the brake pedal, the bike tire makes contact. Put the pulley on the bicycle tire and hook it up to the alternator. BAM! You now have that fancy recharge while you brake system!

I guess its a wash since they get the same mileage

You need to try this experiment with Stupie . . . that way you have no computers to try to outsmart you.

Bugtech ,  Your right about the mpg.  The EPA mpg for the V70 is 25 mpg Hwy
Mine is  24  highway. We both are beating the EPA Hwy mpg rating.

One thing that may be hurting me is that on these roads around lafayette I dont ever get fast enough to get the torque converter to lock up..  Most of the time the tach is at 2300 at 50 mph.  sometimes things kick in and it drops to 2100 at 50mph

Wire that up to a toggle switch and lock it down! Just remember to unlock it when you stop or come to a hill....
