Well, remember on an air-cooled car you're turning the fan along with the generator/alternator, so that's where your drag is coming from in that case. Years ago the Vee drivers ran their fan belts loose to get that extra bit of HP. Eventually they let us scrap the fan altogether and run with forward-facing air scoops.Another thought-how about a larger alternator pulley so it spins slower and takes less effort from the engine?
