I'm just waiting for one of your cars to show up on the "Walmart Car Show" email that floats around from time to time.

I was getting 15   when I decided to replace the 02 sensor and the Cat.,  then I got in the 20's.  then I changed the timing belt and removed the Ac compress,  took out excess stuff like wood that covered the back storage areas.  Put lots of air in the tires.  Then I got 23 mpg.   Then I blocked off the front radiator and extended the trim closer to the road. and got 27.   So here I am  getting 27 from a car rated at 24 Highway.    Now I added the ground effect on the side, Blocked off the front radiator more and added Aluminum  skirts on the back wheels.  I'll fill up Friday and send in a report.  SC

That ain't nothing to brag about. Our old '92 240 wagon with the 2.3 engine got 32-34mpg driving about 70- 75 mph on the road and 27-28 mpg going up and down Signal Mtn. 5 days a week and that was a wagon with over 200, 000 miles on the clock and had all of its "stuff" still on the car that it came with. All working.   Something must be really bad going on only getting 15 mpg. All you are doing now is trashing what was a good car.  Our '98 V-70 gets about 30 mpg on the road and about 25mpg up and down the Mtn. But it is a 5cyl and a bit heavier . It has 160,000 on the clock.

Hey SC, I saw you hypermiling through the square (yes, we have a square in the "triangle") yesterday afternoon.  I blew the the horn and waved at you, but I don't think you saw me.  I kind'a blend in with the woodwork in my S10.  Maybe I need to ad some fender skirts . . . got any of that aluminum left?

I've hit as high as 32mpg on the interstate with my S10.  Carborated (2 barrel progressive) 2.8 V6 with a 5 speed, over 200,000 miles on the odometer . . . My best guess is the secondary jet is clogged in the carb.  I've often thought about actually installing the rebuild kit I bought for the carb a couple of years ago . . . but that might alow me to use the secondary barrel of the carb, which might allow me to cross Rock Springs hill at more than 45 mph, but I'm pretty sure my gas milage would drop back from an average of the mid 20's to more like everyone says it should get . . . 19 - 20.  If gas ever drops to under $2 a gallon, I'll install the kit.  Until then, whatever it takes to get that extra mpg . . .  ;D
