Oh and Nick, I checked on that other boat I was telling you about... They want 500 firm for the body and it IS an actual racing boat... has a hatch cover for the engine as well... and the front of the boat comes to two points like what you see on your average race boat. It is yellow in color.

Not yet, but sounds neat! I don't need another project though...

Just got a call from the place where I was looking at a motor. They had it in on "consignment" They had quoted a price for it with the maintenance  and stuff they were going to perform. Then I took the boat by to see if it would actually work and they confirmed it would and called me back today with an 'out the door price' (with installation and a water test)... it was 50% more than the original quote after they added in a few new parts (cables, wires, key switch, etc...). And then they threw in that there would be sales tax on the whole thing. I was under the impression that sales tax wasn't collected on 1). used items, and 2). services (like hourly rates). Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like that ain't right, especially if its in on consignment.

What are ya'lls thoughts? Either of Rick's charge sales tax on labor? What about a used part? I assume that you do on new parts. Let me know cause as of right now, I don't have the funds to proceed with the motor. Looks like I'm stuck with a (lack of) speed boat!

Oh yeah, I drove it around. I've put about 3 hours on it by now. It was a lot of fun except for when I was tied up with a large group of boats in a little cove and a storm came through... that was rough and waves broke over the sides into the cockpit. It is still drying out.

But when it was running well, it got up on plane great and rode nice a level. Going through another's wake can be bouncy, but its a fun little boat.

Thanks guys! Its registered the same as a normal boat. I got a bill of sale from the previous owner and registered it with the country clerk. They submitted it to the TWRA and I got my paperwork in a few weeks. I decided to mount the numbers on a board in the center of the boat. I got a piece of light gage steel and painted it black. I found two clips that are used for holding the racing numbers in the large rowing boats and attached them to the deck, slid the steel in there riveted it in place.

Megan and I decided to take the little boat out to Riverbend.

The ride down was nice and smooth (we normally cruise the lake side of the dam, but the river side is so much more calm). We made it from the ramp into down town in about 10 minutes.

We tied up with some friends and walked around the festival. My parent's friend's got VIP passes and gave them to us so we ate dinner on stage and hung out for a while. Then we went on a sunset cruise. Two years ago, Megan and I got married at the Art Museum on the cliffs next to the walking bridge:

Crappy half-way dark cell phone pics

Then we went back, tied up and went to watch Lauren Alaina sing about Georgia peaches. During her last song, Brian and I untied and jumped in our little boats to check out the fireworks from the middle of the river. After the fireworks, we tied up again to wait out all the big boats and wake before heading back. I got to meet Lauren Alaina while we were waiting.

the stage:

Then is was back upriver to head home.

The walking bridge with the Art Museum again:

It was a great time and it was made even better by VIP tickets and a little boat!!!

I saw a picture of a Smart Car pulling a little boat the other day.  As soon as I saw it, I busted out laughing and thought "NICK!"   ;D
