Heres a great piece of advice and it's not mine. I've been told this many times by people much wiser than me:
1)If it aint broke dont fix it!
2)If at some point you are working on something and cant figure it out, do two things. 1. look it up in a book or on the web .2. After you think you know how it works call someone who does and confirm you information.
3) After the wise man who knows what they are doing tells you how to fix it,do what they told you and dont mess with it!!!
I'm not ashamed or to proud to call someone and ask if I'm ever in doubt. You can check my phone records to David and Rick to verify it.
If you are a wrench slinger of some type or feel you could be, then start listening to these guys who know what they are doing. They have a vast amount of inormation to share and do so willingly. I have never to date visited David and made it out of his garage without learning something.
I can and will sit for hours talking to a seasoned aircooled mechanic to learn all I can. On the other hand if you haven't a clue what your messing with step back and call in some backup. It happens to everyone at some point, swallow that lump of pride and call someone to ask crazy questions. Chances are they weren't doing anythin anyways.
Enjoy and happy wrenching, make sure the shade tree dont fall on ya!
