Which starter...

« on: August 07, 2013, 04:05:24 PM »
OK,
I have an engine run stand made out of an IRS transmission housing. I have bolted the 1700 T4 engine to it from Nick. The run stand currently has an Autostick Starter on it.
That starter will kill the flywheel on the T4- Right?
I have a late bay starter from Sweet Pea that JavaBirds Gave to me.
Is it just a matter of bolting the Bus starter to the T1 trans case and Voila, every thing works?
Just asking before I toast a flywheel and/or a starter.
Going to set the valves, adjustt the timing replace the disto cap and wires and then give it a go if the starter can be made to work...

As I remember the (SR-17 X)A.S. starter should work just fine.  FYI  The auto-stick starter  comes on a  "Thing" from the factory. They just turned to slow.

I guess the SR-17 should not be confused with the SR-71.... LOL.
OK, David. I was just unsure if a T1 starter would work on the T4 flywheel that is on the 1700.
Thanks,
KC
P.S. Kinda slow around here lately - Oh hum...

That SR-71 motor would be a killer on a T-2. Turn the key and watch the van flip over. How cool would that be ;D ;D ?     Think its about time to "fire up something". I think I just heard Russ moan.

You should put a crank start nut on it so you can crank it over by hand!

I'm going to hide and watch you try that.
