Which heater???

« on: February 28, 2013, 09:58:48 PM »
OK,
I have a BN4 and a BN2 I got from Anthony.
The BN2 seems to be in great shape, the BN4 seems to be "stiff"...
The '62 seems to have had a heater in it before, which heater would it have had installed.
The exhaust hole and such is already in the wheel well.
It looks like a simular set up to the BN4 that is in the Thing, but the heater controlls for it are alot simpler and they match the rest of the '62 dash knobs.

BUMP ??? Don't bump into me. I bruise to easily . I'm hiding in broad daylight. What do you want anyway, heater info.?  If you would "hold your tater" for a min, I will try to check my OEM(never to leave my sight) shop parts manuals. AH !! I just found gas heater info for Type -1,3, 6V & 12V with parts list and line drawings. They show VW part #'s and the M-60:for models 111-141-151-152 .The M-60 might a Eberspacher #. Not sure

The BN-4 is in the '73 thing. Might work in a Bug. Maybe a little pluming difference. Do have all the pluming/wires,fuel pump etc. ?

I have a BN4 in the thing, that will stay in the thing.
I also have another BN 4 that is loose and looks horrible.
(Just the body and the electronics for the body.
I have another BN2 (late 70's ) that is complete and has the thermometer and some if not all the wiring harness. Plan is to possibly use the BN2 in lieu of the BN4 it is smaller, but will not fit the holes already cut into the passengers inner fender and the passengers fire wall. I will just have to "plumb" it in.
Some 4" square to round heater duct with some alabama chrome (duct tape) will cure the trick.
Gonna get the heat going, but was hoping the BN2 would be put into bus...

Its your coal truck. Put a potbelly stove in the Bus 8) ;D   Let the Girls feed it on the way. Drive it by SC's house and make him think you are running on charcoal gas. Tell him you are getting 150 miles on a bag of Kingsford. That would freak him out ;D ;D ;D

Do you need a propane tank to go along with your heater? I have one.

It should mount to any bus, it goes under the body below the sliding door.

Whatever you decide to do, Test fire those heaters on some kind of cobbled up test stand. I have seen some spectacular fire works when things didn't go right. Remember you are dealing with a baby jet engine. :o
