Maybe some of that junk that was in your lines is in your carb as well.
Not seeing it,I would say check your fuel pump, fuel filter and if your getting gas that far then your carb is probably gummed up and needs a rebuild or new carb. BTW did you get a new fuel tank when you replaced the lines. If not check it as well.If it's nasty and is cloging your new lines blow out the lines with a compressor and get a new tank. In general if your lines are shot chances are the rest of your fuel system needs some attenton as well.
If your not mechanically inclined give me a call,if you are then get to it.

Same symptom...
My problem was with the fuel pump not being the correct model.  Did you replace the FP at the same time.... IF so and you bought it at a FLAPS it is probably the wrong one.  Mine had a screwed up stroke that just barely actuated the pump.  Once the engine was hot it wouldn't start again if yu shut it off.    Crazy, but putting a cheep new Broso FP cured the problem.
Take care,
KC

It could be any of those things ....start at the tank and work you wa back till you find the culprit.

UH,  If I understand you, You replaced the fuel lines and now it wont start?    Vapor locking is normaly caused by a overheating problem and not by changing fuel lines.
Since everyone has already talked about all the " stopped up ,tank, fuel pump" things ,  You didn't possibley swap the fuel lines on the pump buy accident did you ?    I don't know what style of pump you have but some pumps have the fuel line to the carb coming from the lower pipe on the pump and the supply from the tank going to the top pipe on the pump.
Just thought I would mention that.

i've got some friends of mine checking things out.  but one thing we are wondering...  (none of us know anything about bugs)  what is the black small tank looking thing in the trunk?  It's on the left hand side and has houses coming out of it.  thanks for the help.  looking forward to getting it up and running again!

Probably a charcoal canister to filter gas fumes...did they have those in '69?

I may have gotten my mouth in gear before my brain.  I don't think the '69 Bug had the canister up front.   There was somthing like a canisted under the right rear fender.  I'm not sure what you are talking about on the left front. Can you post a pic of it ?

Don't go looking for one to install. Most of that stuff was taken off and tossed due to leaking/fumes.

When you say vapor lock, are you saying that your car runs, gets hot, then stalls and won't start or did it never run since the lines were replaced?  Fuel lines are pretty straight forward, if they were the only things changed and the car didn't run afterward I would look at what was touched to change them.  If it does run and gets hot then stalls you should look at what is hot the new lines or hoses are next to, like exhaust or the heads that could turn the fuel in the lines to vapor...gasoline has a pretty low boiling point and you would be surprised how easy it is to get a line or hose too close to a heat source.
Hope this helps.
