David, I'm sure you'll have some choice words for our young squire here...
 ;D
A-1 Auto Repair in Dalton, GA will repair any VW and is reasonable.
Look for his info link on the VW friendly garages topic.

Not really except what do you call reasonable as far as a Type-4 2.0 engine goes.  I don't know A-1.  Only Jake Raby comes to mine and he is more than likely the best , BUT the word
" Reasonable" is not in his vocabulary ,price or personally. GOOD parts or just plane finding parts can be a problem.

Ed at Ed's Foreign Car Parts in Gadsden, AL said he does type IV motors and when he went to Raby's place, he couldn't find his machine shop turns out that Raby is an assembler and doesn't machine his own parts. I don't remember verbatim what parts that Ed said they both used, but he said the heads he uses are of high quality.

Call Ed and see what he has and can build. I have found him to be pretty reasonable. Not cheap but not too expensive. And very little ego

I think Raby gets his heads from Len Hoffman, whose work is also highly regarded on The Samba as well.

I didn't know that Raby didn't machine his own parts. Well he just lost 5 more points with me. He had just 4 points.  You can train a monkey to bolt parts together. Take Nick for instance------------ ;D ;D
