Trunk latch - Trunk latch stuck or a release

« on: April 30, 2004, 11:14:08 AM »
Is there a trunk release button? When I was looking at the bug, tried to open the trunk, pushed and pushed on the button but the trunk would not open. Didn't know if there is a certain combination or could it jsut be stuck form not being open for over 10 years?
Thanks
Ron

Open your glove compartment and you should find a lever on the side. Push in down and then go and push the button and open your trunk lid.

After you open it, you'll probably want to lube the latch and cable . . . when the cable breaks (and it will if don't lube it every now and then) you have carefully cut the handle in two places and screw the lower section off of the bolt that holds it to the hood from the inside.  After getting the latch and cable fixed you have find a replacement handle . . . it's really not a "big" deal, and it's not really that expensive, but it sure is a lot easier to put a couple of drops on oil and a dab of grease in the proper places every now and then.
