transaxle rebuild

« on: December 14, 2007, 06:50:14 PM »
coming first of the year im going to start looking for someone locally to do a transaxle rebuild on my 73 bus. its still running decent, but it feels ruffer than i would like. 4th gear isnt poping out yet, but its trying. i figure i will get it worked on before im sitting on the side of the road taking a nap waiting for a tow truck. any body have some good tips, or know who is good/cheap  :D

I found a bungey cord would hold my westy in gear when it began kicking out of gear.  I would think you could trade it in as a core to a pro vw shop I've read in Hot vW magizin
