Tires and wheels - common tire & wheel size

« Reply #15 on: May 13, 2004, 10:12:04 AM »
Maybe I can find a pic of the sport wheels, but I'm not in a big hurry. The ones I have are just rusty looking and would like to replace them and since the tires are 15yrs old, would like to do it before I drive it on the road once I get it going.  If the wheels on the Baja bug are decent, would like to see what you will take for them. Would also like to see what else your parting with. looking for a good drivers seat( black), glove box latch, fenders( both rear and right front), bumpers, fuel neck for the new gas tank, etc.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Zen,
May ride up to mom & dads this Saturday for Memorial day weekend grill out.  Is there a way to look at those sport wheels?
To be honest they don't look that bad and even for $40( or whatever best offer is?), I can put those on for now and look as other shows come up this summer. The parents live in Hixson. Thanks and let me know what you think.. Did you get a chance to see what wheels are on the baja bug project?
Thanks
Ron

I still haven't gotten the Baja.  The set of sports wheels I have are not painted . . . they were sandblasted and primed when I got them and I never used them.  I'll pull them out of the garage and clean them up (they have 4 or 5 years of dust on them) and spray them silver . . . unless you prefer them in primer or some other color.  For $40, I'll throw in some stock wheels with bad tires if you'll haul them off for me.  I don't know how many I have, and they will need to be sandblasted and painted . . . but they will be free if you want them.  I'll dig around out here and see how many I have before this weekend.  Email me (zenph@comcast.net) and let me know if/when you want to come look at them.  I'm in LaFayette, GA, but I might be able to meet you somewhere if you think you might want them.

On the sport wheels, meant to ask, they will fit a 70 model, as far as not  needing spacers or anything? Do you know the width 4 1/2 "or 51/2" wheel. I will e-mail you off line as the week goes on.
Thanks
Ron
