Tim's VW in Atlanta

« on: June 13, 2007, 04:30:05 PM »
Don't know if anyone has been there on this forum or not but I thought I would share some pictures of my visit today.  I used to live just down the street from Tim's and passed it everyday on my way to work....then I had a Corvair so it was nothing more than interesting.  Now I have a bug that needs some body parts and even though it has been 5 or 6 years since I last saw the place it popped into mind.  I left home today around 10:30 am and arrived at Tim's about 2 hours later (drove the Bug of course).  He had fenders and decklids already removed and let me pick through the choices.  I got a pass. rear fender, early style decklid, and a snowflake taillight housing with the chrome ring for 90 bucks!! 8) He let me wander about aimlessly taking pictures soooo here they are!

And a few more. He has all kinds of stuff and not too bad on the price.  The 2nd phone number on the sign is the one I used, area code is 770. I even got a pic of whats left of a Thing! I didn't venture off the path too much as the Chuck Taylor's and shorts didn't offer much protection from whatever lives and grows around the objects of desire  :D  just thought I would share my "adventure".... next week may be a trip up 411 to the "guy with all the VW's in his yard". :D
Rick.

I've never been there, but I think this is the place where a friend of mine from LaFayette used to work.  Is it in Cobb County near Austell?

Its another one of those SOUTHERN perts Joe.  All you need to do is to head south and tie on a side-arm to protect yourselve from the" Great Flapping Things" that lerk in and under the relics. There is nothing quite like getting eye ball to eye ball with a eastern diamondback rattlesnake that didn't appreciate me peeking inside a Oval that he clamed was his. You know what ?  It was his. This guy was as big around as my arm. Don't know how long he was as I didn't stick around long enough to discuss the matter with him. Like the Dude said : " Feet don't fail me now"

There are really a good amount of these places around here if you could just find them. You hear about them but you seem to not be able to locate them. Some people just will not tell you where they are unless they have spotted a REAL treasure like a "Kubelwagen" or a "Tiger Tank" and don't want you to "Jump in there" before they have had a chance at it.
I guess you just go on the prowl yourselve when you have time.

Just look up Walt Ramsey in Dalton, Ga. off of Airport Rd.  You should find something very similar.
