On a 70 model bug, does the thro-out bearing fork need to be lubed on the sleeve? If so, whats the best ? Thanks

Are you talking about the sleeve that the T.O. brg itselve slides on or  the bushings where it goes through the tranny housing. Your original 70 tranny may or may not have the sleeve the T.O. slides. I like to use a good grease that has Moly-Coat on either one.  Greasing the shaft through the tranny is about impossible installed. If you are replacing the cross shaft , now would the time.

Yes thanks for the reply. The sleeve that the bolt goes into, that does go through the case is the 1 I'm talkin abt. Since I'm here, are thier different diameters for the shaft itself. The shaft end that goes into the right side of the case does not "fit'. I can force it in somewhat, I don't want to hammer in. Up to a point, the shaft is very hard to rotate up and down. Is this bad machineing done on the shaft, or different sizes. Purchased at Ed's in Gadsden AL. Thanks again
