Yeah, tape. I need to know-Does electrical tape melt? I'm thinking that considering it was made for hot wires, it will hold up pretty well on a hot hose. Ya'll agree?
I'm still having trouble with that part that was stolen off my engine. The replacement hose came off the other day and I was stuck at home for awhile until I figured out what it was. So I shoved the hose back on and wrapped it with electrical tape. When I can afford it, I'm going to order the official replacement part, but until then, I need the most reliable tape and/or adhesive I can find. Or maybe a clamp would be better. It's a hose with a ... ah, what do you call it...it's a joint where the hose fits snuggly onto a cylinder. But apparently the hose is just a tad bit too big, cause it slips off.
I think I'm going to look for a clamp...
And I'm going to dedicate myself to learning the name of this part.  :)

Loose the tape Candace. You definately need a clamp. The tape will melt and cause a terrible mess.

OK, I have no idea what hose you are taking about but I'll throw my two cents worth in anyway . . .

Yes, electrical tape will melt.  It will also burn.  I don't know the melting point or flash point, but it's not as heat resistant as it sounds like you think it is.  It isn't made for hot wires . . . it's made to keep wires from shorting out and getting hot, just like the plastic insulation that coats the copper core of automotive wiring . . . by the way, if it gets hot enough, the insulation on the wire will also melt and burn.  And it's REALLY hot when it burns . . . I've got the scars to prove it.

Even though I don't know what hose your talking about, I'm with Herb . . . you'll probably be better off using a clamp.
