Sprung a BIG leak!

« on: August 25, 2008, 03:17:18 PM »
Ok, so I come home today and just happened to glance down at the floor under the bus to see how much the engine is leaking.  Well to my suprise I saw something that I wasn't expecting.  It looked like Mack decided he couldn't hold it any longer and relieved himself all over the floor.     After further investigation, I discovered it was transaxle fluid and that it seems to be leaking from the passanger side axle boot.  But those are only a year old?  :?
Do you think that when he was put up on the lift Saturday it may have put extra stress on the boot and busted it or should I be looking for a leak around the transaxle?

Ck to see if the boot just slipped off the side cover flange or ripped the top out of the boot due to the angle sitting on the lift. Common problem on "Splitty's".    A little dope goes a long way when it spreads out 8)

I found that I have a finger size hole on the bottom side of the axle boot just at the transaxle flange.  So I rotated it 180 degress so that it will slow the leak until the new one arrives.

Sounds like it may have gotten pinched on a speed hump bounce or on the lift. Have you done any spirited back road driving lately
