spring loaded push rod tubes

« on: March 01, 2011, 08:25:01 AM »
Has anyone used the spring loaded push rod tubes?  EMPI, Scat, Jaycees, etc.

Have a couple leaky tubes that need to be replaced.  From reading Jaycees seem to pretty good although expensive. Wondered if anyone had success with EMPI, Scats or another brand.

thanks
ron

Leaky pushrod tubes leak only slightly more than a spring loaded push rod tube from my experience.   ::)

Jaycee's are high dollar but they worked great on my 1835.  They are not your cheap china empi crap.  They NEVER dripped but they did get wet enough to collect dirt and did have to be cleaned off on occasion to remain spic and span however, other leaks made up for the clean pushrod tubes! ;D

I ended up with a hole in the bottom of a push rod tube when I got to Mid-America Motorworks Funfest a few years back and I really didn't want to pull the engine at the show so I bought a set of spring loaded tubes and replaced them with the engine still in the bus.  Well, I replaced one side.  I think that was 4 years ago and that side still doesn't leak.  Someday I really ought to install the other side.  I don't remember the brand, but they were high quality, heavy duty aluminum and had double O-rings, super storng springs and quality seals . . . and were a real pain to install with the engine installed, but they worked great.  I think they cost about 60 bucks . . . but I didn't have to pull the engine so I didn't complain.

Thanks guys.
Think I am going to order a couple of the spring loaded tubes from Aircooled.net just to see how they do.
