I guess I am still old school.  W-8 Bosch is what I always use in stock applications. Worked for me for about 40 years. 8)

John, I guess it depends on what you call "not stock"  There are different heat ranges of spark plugs and you need to talk to someone who modifys  these "critters" for a living. Street or Strip ,you need to get it right or you could melt something down. Stay with Bosch if you can. This is a often overlooked subject ,but important.

You could pull one out once in a while to check to see if they are "smutty" or too lean ( snow white to hot)

BugTech, I know all of mine are alway's going to be smutty.Have never had a white one.Guess if I did I had better adjust the carb..It runs fine as soon as it warms up which takes a while.Wish it had an automatic choke like regular cars do where you could crank it get out and let it warmup. But unfortunately I have to sit in there and compensate pushing the gas up and down until it does warm up lol.But everything is just fine after it does.I had a bad carb on it before. It had been adjusted so much it was worn out. I'm not kidding.Went like this for years trying to figure it out.Changed everything out.Last thing was a new weber. Now it's great.I tried adjusting things myself and it got worse and worse. This is after everyone else tried it too.It was one of those things called "too many cooks in the kitchen" Just gave up and bought a new one.So now I can quit bitching lol. I sure wish I knew of someone good around here that could fix the front end. It's out of line but I had it adjusted according to the machine but you can still walk off a little bit and look at it and see that it's not straight.I'm not going to race it so probably take the small 4 inch tires off the front and put a 6 or 7 inch wide tire on it.Would have to buy 2 new wheels to do this.Just something a little smaller than 8 inch.I want to keep the same profile but just beef up the front just a little. If I did it now wife would kill me because we need other things like food and silly things like that lol.

A good road trip to BP-8 might clear up the smutty plugs. What do think about that ?

You might be right but coming that far I trailer the dunebuggy.I just drive it mostly around town and sometimes venture up in the mountains. That would be a very adventurious trip in a dunebuggy for sure lol.Like a rail or something open topped. To enter the show it would be a total clean up again. And lot's of toothpicks to get all the bugs out of my teeth lol.I trust it to make it for sure but let's see about a 5 hour drive with no room for any personal items but a toothbrush and a pair of underwear would be bad.Especially if someone comes with me lol.Think you got the picture now.

You've got a windshield haven't you?  What more do you need?

Our "You Drove THAT? From WHERE?" award a.k.a. the "Daniel Helton Spirit Award" is given each year in honor of Dan Helton, who drove his completely opened rail buggy (well, he did have a small plexiglass windshield, but nothing else to block the wind) from Mobile, AL to BP-3 . . . and he had left his tent poles at home so he slept on the ground two nights and then drove back home . . . and he didn't even enter the show!  Once wasn't enough . . . he drove it back to BP-4!  He didn't come to BP-5 or 6, but he was at the show last year . . . but I don't think he drove the rail buggy.

In 1971 Me and a Buddy drove my Manx from Chattanooga to Nova-Scotia . Made a loop around the country, back down through Canada, U.S.A. to home.  The Manx had a folding top, side curtains, great heat, wipers. The seats were from a '69 Mach-1 Mustang( very comfy) and we carried all our camping "stuff", tent etc, etc. even a spare tire tied on the hood. The engine was a 1600 single port with a SPG roller crank ( remember those) small cam and a Zenith 2 barrel. Did not have one problem the whole trip. Again I have photos to prove it if I can figure how to post. In 1972, We drove the same Buggy to the "Outer Banks " of N.C, down to Key West Fla. and back. Again no problems.
I'm 69 now and I would do it again in a New York min. as long as I had my can of "Boost" and some Exlax.
This Buggy was a big hit in Nova Scotia. everytime we stopped ,we were surrounded by the locals. We had way to much fun.
When I sold the Buggy, I had put over 60 K on it on the road and trips to the woods.
So ,Whats the problem about driving your Buggy to BP-8 ? I don't want to hear a bunch of crap about being to old or the weather looking bad.

Be like a boy scout : Be Prepared !!

I like the guy's dunebuggy that is black and brown. At BP6 he got first place,I got 2nd.What is his name?I had one like his before but sold it atthe time we needed the money and the whole floor pans were rusted out.I didn't have the$ to fix it much less keep it. It was an Allison.Really made well.I wish I could have kept it and fixed it.The outside was beautiful. It was the underneath that was bad but found out later it really wouldn't have cost that much to fix it but like I say we needed the money.

Boost is a energy drink so they say. I don't I got any faster, but at least I didn't get slower. Just about all super markets has them. Lots of flavors.
Dang !! Must be getting old . I just now realized that I'm sitting here talking about bowel movement schedules and why sex is like shooting pool with a rope. I guess talking about the disease of the week will be next
