Snap Ring Pliers

Ever gotten frustrated trying to remove the oil filler spout with a pair of vise grips on a Type IV engine? Turns out that strong metal clamp is known as a corbin ring or a snap ring and there's a special pair of pliers that makes it much easier. I got a pair cheap off eBay. They are KD tools part 429, but Snap-on HCP9 is the same type of tool. The ends grab on to the prongs on the end and as you squeeze it releases tension on the clamp. And they won't snap out of your hands like vise grips.

Actually, it stems from the conversation which began one day at Lockhart's with Tom saying," I've got a bunch of those old damned VW wrenches like you're always buyin off the internet.  I haven't used them since I left vw and now they're just sitting in my tool box at home.  I oughta just sell ya mine."

A sampling of what I ended up with:
...the afformentioned corbin clamp pliers
...the offset fuel pump/ oil cooler wrench
...the long handled generator t-handle wrench
...the 21mm/36mm double box-end wrench
...two complete sets of wheel bearing wrenches (24,27,32mm sizes)
...several misc. double open end wrenches
...the 13mm flex t-handle wrench

all of the wrenches were Hazet, in absolute mint condition, not so much as a scratch or nick......

I figure you already might want to kick me, so I'm not even gonna tell you how much he offered them to me for.......let's just say the next day he had cash and I had some old wrenches.

Very nice indeed.  I have never had a complete set of those tools.
When I  starting working at Southland VW in 1964,  Mr Dan offered me and some other "Newbies" the chance to buy the Hazet set and the neat  little Hazet Roll-around  tray for ,Get this,   $129.00.   And NO I didn't buy it.  Dang !! :(    Just had to have Craftman.
You could take the whole car apart with that set of tools.
