Roof Racks on a Jetta Wagon

« on: August 19, 2005, 04:30:35 PM »
Anybody have experience with either the VW roof rack crossbars or the Thule or Yakima equivalents on a Jetta Wagon? I'm want to increase my storage space and maybe carry a bike every now and then. This is a 2004 (Jetta 4)

Roof Racks on a Jetta Wagon

My wife has a 2000 Passat Wagon with a Yakima roof rack on it.  It has the cross bars and a basket between the bars.  It also came with a bike "rail".

Since the Jetta and Passat Wagons are almost "identical", I would assume that Yakima would have one to fit.  They are a bit of a pain to take on and off, and we have scraped a little of the black paint off of those things on the roof that the rack mounts onto (whatever they are called, they go from the front of the car to the back on both sides).  Anyway, the Yakima rack looks great on the Passat, as well as serving a purpose.
