i dont know how many times iv herd hm say most carb problems are electrical. witch makes no since to me it only has one wire.  well the other day annaleigh left her car with me and told me to use it over the weekend. being new to having a teen age doughter driving i think i have figured out this meens daddy my car is not running wright and lets see if it will break while you drive it first trip out when you hit the gas it falls slap on its face and will run if you play with the throttle.  not much power but its old and tired..  new fuel filter and no better. ok mister pump. not messing with it just pick up carb kit  10.30 i get home and she needs it the next day.. i get one bolt out and pop the dizzy cap off to get to back bolt.  and something didnt look right..   yes points were almost closed only 900 miles on points.. regaped and all is good.. WHAT IM SAYING IS IF DAVID TELLS YOU TO TIGHTEN UP THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER BOLT AND IT WILL FIX YOUR PROBLEM WHAT EVER IT IS TIGHTEN THAT SUCKER UP AND DONT ASK WHY....

I've heard him say it 1,000 times. It doesn't make sense, but the electrical system has more wear items and more parts that can "give up the ghost" when they short out. The carb is just a system of valves and tubes. It only needs to be cleaned every long once in a while or if it sits for a little while.

I've learned that every time I have not-running-right issues, I check the points first, and then troubleshoot the rest of the electrical system. It usually fixes it right away!
