Relay gone bad?

« on: March 09, 2008, 05:40:07 PM »
Ok i replaaced the turn signal in the 69 bug today and everything blinked as it should. Well it put the stearing wheel etc back on and was checking it all and noticed that the driving lights on the right side ( front and back ) did not come on when the light switch was pulled on. I take them apart and check all the wires ( after some more cussing ) they all worked when put back together. Now all i get is the light in the dash guage saying that the turn signals are working but no blinking at all. I can not even hear the relay clicking now. I am so ready to shoot the old dog and put it out of it's misery. Could my flasher relay gone bad when doing all the " fixing " of the lights or what. Thanks for any help on this matter.......Rob

Check all the ground 30 times then check the bulbs 45 times, then flip them around in various diffrent patterns at least 20 times.Kick the tires 3 times and curse at least 5 or more times, then it might work.

Mine kept going out the bulbs would bounce out of socket,a ground would be corroded, but my big problem was the big ol relay. You have almost the same one,the big black box of doom? I ditched my hazrd lights and wired mine with newer style relays of an older diagram. Cant remeber but I think I used a 64 diagram with the optional euro relays. Its on Samba.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA &#%@*&...........ok now that i have that pressure release out of the way, i need help finding the problem why the fuse that controlls the interior light and the blinkers keeps blowing. ( second from right ). I got all the lights working again today but can not figure this out. Does any one have time this sunday to come out and help me figure this. It needs to be running down the road and not in my drive way staring at my house. I live in Ooltewah off of Old Lee Highway if there is any one in the area. Thanks for any help on this..........Rob

Try this "shade tree" trick.  Be sure that their is not more stuff wired to this fuse that needs to be.      Disconect all wires at the panel other than the hot wire.  re-connect each wire ,one at a time then disconnect it and try another wire until it pops a fuse.  Trace that circuit down, inspect the wiring on the way. I have seen the interior light bulb holder or the door jam switches cause a lot of this problem. Who knows what has been done to the wiring connections over the years.
