Rear wheel bearings

« on: February 06, 2008, 12:40:39 PM »
OK I have another problem, I tried to slide the inner bearing on the stub axle to make sure it would fit ,and cant seem to get it to go down on the shaft. Will it go thru easier after i install the bearing? Also I want to make sure I'm putting things back in the right order ,so please give me a run down on the assembly order....thanks Agian!.....Fred

Unless you are going to leave the snap ring and seal off,   The bearing/seal always goes in the trailing arm first then you bang the stub axle in.
Here is a little tip on the outer bearing. You can install the outer race in the trailing arm but leave the rollers and inner race off until you get the stub axle all the way in or you might send all the little rollers flying while you are banging the stub axle in. Not Good !  The axle is a tight fit on the bearings. Don't forget to pack the bearings

By the way,  Torque the snot out of the rear drums. I know that you are not exactly a petite and could more than likely torque the drums with your fingers.  About 215-220 pounds should do it and then a little more.
