Questions about the Sink...Fridge...Icebox

« on: March 19, 2009, 09:02:19 PM »
So I pulled out the sink compartment on my bus (see pictures) and I'm trying to diagnose what I'm missing. Does anybody have a diagram or detailed pictures? Or does anybody have a 1970-1973 bus that has a working sink - fridge that I could stop by and take a look at?

Thanks,

The fridge isn't really a fridge, more like a formica coated cooler.  the hole in the back that looks like there should be something there.... that's where the water tank is supposed to be.  good luck finding an original for less than a king's ransom.  Not sure if there's a substitute that works, something should.

I've got the original VW water tank it's just not in the picture. So if this is not really a fridge do you just cool it with ice? If so how does it drain and where does the tube go that's about three inches up from the bottom running out of the back?

If you've got the tank, you're good to go.  The drain goes out the floor under the cabinet, and i always just used ice packs in mine.
