Powder Coating???

« on: October 24, 2005, 08:44:32 AM »
Does anyone know where I can take my engine tin off of "Lucille" to get it powder coated? I've heard mention of some guy in Charleston, TN and possibly somebody in GA but I can't find cards or numbers.

The "money monster" stepped in and the money I had set aside for the powder coating had to go into new tires and brakes for the Eurovan. Volkswagen is really proud of their brakes and they are a dealer only item. $200 for all four wheels and that is with a good discount.

We just filed our income tax and will get some back and that will do the powder coating.

$200 for brake pads ? God Almighty !!!  People use to buy VWs because they were cheap to maintain. Like everything these days, prices are out of control. In 1965, the dealer could install a factory rebuilt engine for about $195 out the door. We had to install the muffler and the clutch then install the engine . I got a whole $9.00 for the job :(
