POR-15 - Where can I get it?

« on: June 04, 2004, 12:12:17 PM »
Not going to replace the Drivers side floor pan, but from reading looks like it would be best to paint with POR-15. I went into Advanced Auto yesterday to get a couple things, they said they don't sell it, does anyone know off hand where to purchase it.. Also should one paint the new floor board with this stuff or just paint..

One other question, you think the new piece should be painted with por-15 or maybe a Rust-o-lium paint.. Read where the new paints have a  oily finish and would need to use their  Metal Ready to dull and kind of scratch the surface so the POR-15 will stick..
Thanks

Ron, I  think I would stay with the Por15 and use the metal prep. I have used the Por metal prep on a Mustang motorcycle fuel tank along with the Por tank sealer (lots of pin holes) and it worked perfectly. Since Rust-Oleum(spelling?)left the fish oil out of their formula along with other goodies that the EPA didn`t like several years ago, It ain`t the same. It will not stick to anything like it use to. Seem like it also took forever to dry. Your choice.

POR 15 is the best!!!! I have used it on many a project. Herbie is full of it. I have never found it anywhere around here and have had to order it when I need to. The only thing they tell you about using it as a caution is that if you are using it on any area that will see the sun, you have to paint over it. Something about the suns uv rays affects its composition and it will not cure. Good Luck
