Can't wait for another show to go through somewhere close by.

Here are some upcoming Southeast VW Shows that we (Scenic City Volks Folks members) usually attend:

Circle Yer Wagens - This coming weekend at the Sevier County Fairgrounds in Seveirville, TN.  Camping on the riverbank, lots of nice VWs, a huge swap meet, and all near the Great Smokey Mountains . . . This is one of our favorites.  The AVWA holds this show twice per year.  The spring show is the first weekend in May and the fall show is the first weekend in October.

Heart of Dixie Show - June 19th. Held at the Grand Pavilion, Alpharetta, GA. Hosted by SEVWC of Atlanta.

BUG'N IN JULY VW Show and Swap meet - July 5th.  Held at VW Audi of Huntsville, AL.

Birmingham Bug Blast - August 29th.  Held at Moody City park, Moody City, AL.

SouthEast Bugfair - September 12th. Toccoa, Ga; Stephens County Fairgrounds.

Circle Yer Wagens - October 2nd and 3rd.  Sevier County Fairgrounds, Sevierville, TN.

and then the "BIG ONE" . . . well, two actually . . .

Bulli Brigade - November 13th.  Tampa, Fl; VW pre-67 Transporter show and swap at Reeves VW.
AND,
Florida VW show  - November 14th.  Formerly know as the Florida Bug Jam, this one had over 400 VWs last year shown by pre-registration only!  Pasco County Fairgrounds Dade City, FL (about 20 miles north of Tampa).

There are some other shows in the southeast that a few of us may attend, and there will be more that we hear about as the show season progresses (a June show in Stevenson, AL for instance . . . anyone know anything about that one?) but these are the established ones that we usually have a caravan (sometimes two or three caravans) of club members going to each year.

If you're waiting on another one in Chattanooga . . . Bug-A-Paluza 7 won't be here until April, 2005.

Thank's for the information, I appreciate it. May not be able to make this weekend, but look forward to the meetings and other events that will be going on.

Sorry to drag this back to the top, but I'm dealing with this '71 Ghia with this carb (remember the carb?  This is a thread about the carb...[apologies to Arlo for the "Alice's Restaurant" misquote])
I'm about to rebuild it because it started leaking gas around the accelerator pump and the car's not run in years until a couple of weeks ago (it's still sitting on bias-ply tires, for God's sake!)
My question:  How's this carb when all the original emissions equipment is hooked up?  The Ghia still has all the vacuum thingy-dual advance and retard dizzy-what's that thing on the firewall do?-decel valve-etc. and as long as it's not broke, I'm not planning to fix (or remove) it.  Call me crazy, but it's an original car and that's my thang.  Any tricks to rebuilding one?

Way to go Anthony, If your car is intact and its funtioning the way its suppose to, Why mess with it. The "34" is not hard to deal with when everything is original. Why put a two barrel carb on 427 ci  Cobra.   2 mm carb bore means a lot on a stock 1600 engine. You of all people should know this now that you are a FV driver. 1/2 lb here, a degree or two here etc. can mean 10th place or 1st place.
If all you "Dudes" are going to replace your 34mm carbs with 31/32 carbs, put all your 34 mm carbs in a bag and bring them to me. :D

Got the 34 in and running with no problem, at least putting from the front to back yard (the patio of shame).  I went in and adjusted the accel pump squirter so the stream (which lasts about a second) squirts as close to the venturi as possible.  It still splatters on the throttle plate as it opens, but I'm guessing there's no way to avoid that, right?  This one has the two holes you talked about by the gasket, but neither were covered by it.  Thanks for the help!
