Pan rotisserie

« on: October 28, 2008, 08:52:59 PM »
Thought I would share with everyone my homemade pan rotisserie.  I used some sheetmetal that I had in the shop and some 1.5" pipe that I got from work.  As far as hardware goes, it is the original VW hardware.  In one picture you'll notice that I used some sockets as spacers because I didn't feel like going to the hardware store to find the proper length bolts.  I just used the bolts that hold the beam on.  Nothing fancy, but will aid in painting considering I am a one man team.

Thanks!  I was pretty proud.  It was sitting on jack stands.  I wondered how I could paint one side and then flip it over without damage.  I inherited the pipe stands from my dad when he passed away, so some credit goes to him  :)

Im definetly a fan of creative solutions and homemade tools. Alot of stuff you make works better than the crap they sell.

Thats really clever.  I have seen things like this at  High Dollar restoration shops but not as simple or as cheap to build as this one is. Good job!! :thumbs-up:

It looks crude, but it works and was free.  I was not concerned with looks as I had no intentions of marketing my rotisserie idea.  The only thing that would have helped would have been a bandsaw.  Anyone have one for sale reasonably priced?

The "right" tool for any job is one that gets the job done and is safe.  Looks that the right tool for the job!  Now everyone that's ever worked on a pan is going to be standing around scratching their head asking "why didn't I think of that?" 8)

I thought it was some sort of sick modeling.  Fred is cool, I'm his neighbor from Louisiana.
