outside scrapers - easiest way to remove them

« on: August 02, 2004, 08:19:24 AM »
Whats the easist way to take out the outside scrapers? I remember us talking about it, now that I'm ready to replace them or at least remove them, can't remember what's the best way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron, Easy to get out . putting them in is a different story. I suggest that you contact VW HERB ( club PREZ) to get Richard Strouts e-mail/ phone #. Richard has recently installed new scrapers in his 69 bug and maybe knows a new trick or two . Do not buy cheap scrapers. Ask Richard about that

Best way is to take out the roll-up windows first, then you just pop them out towards the inside.  Save the clips!  Don't buy Brazilian rubber-it gets hard within months of being outside-especially in cold weather.  Spring for German, you'll be happier.

Thanks, I'll have to see if he has any tips, have the car at the body shop now, wanting to get them out, I guess, not put them back in unitl the car is painted. I'll bet the ones I ordered from BugZone are not the German ones. Still expensive enough.
