Opinion needed...

I know I ask tons of questions, but isn't this why the site is available?  I spoke with Joe up at Tri-State about some rear wheel bearings for my resto. He quoted me $45 which includes bearings, seals and o-rings.  He also told me they were from Mexico and has never had any problems with them.  Well CIP1 has a kit to do both sides for about $47.  I believe this kit is from China.  Buying from CIP1 would save me about $43, but is this the route I should go?  Thanks in advance.

I've bought a good bit of stuff from CIP1 and I've been satisfied with most of it.  I've also bought stuff from Joe and been very satisfied with most of it as well.   There is a lot of cheap (in price AND quality) junk that comes out of China . . . but that doesn't mean EVERYTHING made in China is junk.  The bearings from China might be as good, or even better, than the ones from Mexico . . . I doubt it, but they could be.

I personally would rather deal with someone locally vs. mail order, even if I have to pay a little more for the same product.  It's a whole lot easier to get problems resolved if you can look someone in the eye when you're dealing with them.  But sometimes, the mail order price trumps everything else.  I think for half price, I would be really tempted to try out the Chinese bearings from CIP1.  I might regret it later on . . . but for half price, it's really tempting . . .

I am the online ordering Queen. I try and buy most of my parts via M&T MFG. Their CS is outstanding. I ordered the body molding a couple of weeks ago and several pieces were bent. They shipped me out a brand new set and told me to trash the old set. I guess since the entire set was only $35.00 they could afford to do that. But the CS has always been excellent and that means a lot to me :D
