Bugtech,  You are being silly, dog poop  only lasts  12.3  minutes as a lubricant  before it loses viscosity  and turns flammable. Not to mention the smell.   You should have learned that at VW school .  geeez.   sc

I wouldn't think that would be a problem. Stupey only runs 10.46 mins. at a time doesn't he ?   Plenty of time to re-load.  Flamable ?  Does Frank know about this ?   Poop 101 wasn't discussed at VW school until they came out with the Type-4.  This was after my time thank goodness

Hey Fred,  I should have stated    20w50 High Detergent.  VW aircools seem to like to cruise with Castrol.

Not to sound like a big dummy, but...what's the difference between detergent and non-detergent? (And don't just tell me one has detergent and one doesn't.) How can I tell by looking at the bottle? I just use Castrol GTX 20w50.

Well its sort of like this.+ " What's the difference between Kinky sex and normal sex ?"  The anwser is ----  About $15.00   At one time long ago " Kinky Sex cost a little more.
Some folks say the "HD " on the can means Heavy Duty ,  some think it means High Detergent. I have seen more cans marked Non-Deregent than marked High Detergent.  Most all the major brand muti-viscosity oils are High Detergent. I don't even think there is a 10w30, 20w50 etc. Non-detergent oil .  I might be wrong.   GTX is High detergent though.
All this info is for normal people . Smelly Cat makes his own oil thanks to his buddy Frank and his Hound Dog.

Thanks Bugtech.   expensive oil  = expensive drips in the driveway.  Tts like vitamins.  You buy, eat,  and excrete..  just like a VWmotor treats oil.  SC

Ya poor Stupie....  leaks oil  like a stuck pig.  Make that a stuck oil Drum.  Maybe 50w leaks out slower?  I was gonna drive it today but the oil light was flickerin last time I drove and decided  against  adding a quart of Smelly Special Oil in the dark.  Is there any good products like "BugTech in a Can"that will fix my main seal ?  sc

That "Bug Tech" in a can stuff doesn't work  well at temps below 35 degrees but it is available.  BugTech Stuff , the heated garage version, works really well.
Driving with a blinking oil light is going to jump up and bite you one day.  It doesn't take to many times .  :(

What weight oil in -10 to 30 degrees weather ?   Other than what Kile stated ( which sounds good to me) that is a good question for your part of the woods.    10 w30  maybe ?   For the type of weather around here 20 w 50 works for us.   Its pretty rare to get low temps like you guys get.
You could move down below the Kudzu Belt then it would't be a issue   :reindeer:
