oil light and slowing turning

« on: August 03, 2006, 09:59:15 PM »
Hi ya'll
Just moved back to Rome from Cinncy about three weeks. Had the movers load Volksie(70 bug) and bring her back with other things. Bad part they put a ding in the door and broke a muffler pipe clear off.
When I drove it home( about 20 miles) the oil light was coming on when idling. When I turned her off and tried to re-start, it turned over slow, like timing was off, and wouldn't start .
The next morning it start fine adn idlied great, but havent drove it until I replace the the muffler system.
Could the extension being broke off cause back pressure and do what it did?

Thanks
Ron

Welcome Home Ron,  I wouldn't think a pipe broken off would cause the problem unless something was blocking the muffler outlet . The front of the car wasn't way up in the air when it was in transit was it ? Was the oil level higher ?

Once they got the car up in the truck, it rode level.. My guess it was broken off while driving up in the truck or backing it down off the truck when they unloaded.
Well, will go through and check plugs, points, timing, etc.

Thanks and will look at the other muffler extension  to make sure it's not blocked.

. . . When I turned her off and tried to re-start, it turned over slow, . . .

I hope that isn't because of a slow starter!

Welcome back Ron!  If you haven't been keeping up with the message board while you've been gone, that's an inside joke.  See the "help with a slow starter" thread for details.
