Not leaking oil and finaly not dead.

Well I guess I've about got it fixed. Turns out I had a clogged up oil galley in there and the oil pressure relief was stuck. Maybe that would explain it. Turns out also that engine was missing alot of gaskets and alot of the bolts were mismatched and so forth. Gotta gasket kit and a bolt set and reassebled it all. Repainted everything as well,it's pretty .Hell it might even run right! :o

I'm missing an oil dipstick tube and a engine mounting bolt that I can't seem to get.I'll give a few days and see if one turns up.
Meanwhile  I'm cleaning up the undercarrage and such. Dang thing is nasty under there. I think I'll do some work on my fuel lines as well ,they look a bit shady.
Well back to the garage.

Scott, I checked a couple of dip stick tubes in some cases I have. They all seem to stick out the case about 1 1/2 inches. A trick I use to do is use a drill bit that just barely would fit into the tube so you wouldn't collapes it and then use a good pair of vice-grips to clamp around the tube. Take a #1 tool(hammer) and peck on the vice-grips to move the tube out. The tube is snug in the case ,but will move. You may not have to replace the tube . The tube is about 4 or 5 inches long and you may just have to move it out far enough to get your 1 1/2 inches. The way it was you were running the engine low on oil. maybe 1/2 qt or more.
I bet you are missing the upper engine mounting bolt on the driver side .Correct ?
Let me know how you made out on the tube

I got it out and I found a piece of brass pipe that seems to work,I was just about to ask about that measurment.  And yep I am missing that mount,How did you know that?Do I need to check my garage for video cameras?

Is it ok to fabricate that oil tube?Anything that I need to be aware of? The motors about ready to put back in,I just have a little more cleanup on the chasis before I do it. I'm also gonna have to set the gap for my valves and such any advise? Thanks for the help.

I have a old case that I can get the tube out of. Brass might be a bit to soft to drive in.

I'm about to murder this car! Alright the engine is in when I start it up it's running a little rough no big deal I knew I'd have to set the timing a little. There was a pinging sound so I shut it off,I think it was the fuel pump.Anyways I took it off and was checking it out and the push rod won't go up and down. What now? This thing has me madder than a hornet! I'm gonna kill it!
