New Shocks

« on: March 20, 2008, 09:50:56 PM »
I just installed a new set of Bilstein Shocks on my 67 Bus.  What a difference!!!!  Before when I would hit a mild bump I felt like I was being dribbled down the road.  Now the ride is so smooth its hard for me to gauge if I'm even hitting bumps that was creating the dribbling effect.  I found them at www.eshocks.com the cheapest.  The reason I finally decided to change them is because when I had the tire blow out on the way back from FLA it damaged the passenger side front shock and started leaking oil.  When we would drive the bus I was constantly fighting the steering back and forth.  With the new shocks it is straight as an arrow.  That's the best $250 I've spent on a car in a while, other than that tranny I bought back in Oct.  :thumbs-up:

New KYB gas shocks on the rear of my bus made a huge difference. I should replace the fronts some time.

I was pulling to the left a little and in combination with the play that I had in the steering and of course wind gust blowing me all over the road, I decided to take my bus to Doyle's alignment this past Monday.  He said it was just a little off and that my tie rods ends all looked new.  But my drag link needed to be replaced.  So I got to dialing becuase I wanted it fixed before I drive it to Sevierville this weekend.  I was able to pick one up from lamar at American Foreign.  I installed it last night and took it for a test drive.  Holy Crap what a difference.  With older vehicles I have just always expected a little play in the steering, but the bus feels like it just rolled off the production line.  I might even be able to do some hands free driving now.

That sounds great. I need to get mine up to Doyle's. He did my '89 Jetta, pretty good alignment shop. Crye's Alignment in Cleveland is pretty good too.
