So I ordered a new Pacesetter muffler for my bus from
Bus Depot. This is what it looked like out of the box.

I took it down to
Autocycle Powdercoating and had it sandblasted and ceramic coated. They also removed the EGR port on the side since I don't have any EGR anymore.

The uneven bands are because it was coated in sections, I was told those would go away and it would look uniform once it heated up. And sure enough it did.

This is kind of a bad photo, but you can see it installed on the bus. I like that it stays tucked under the bumper and doesn't really stick out all that much. And you can also see where she marks her spot.

This is my old EMPI muffler. When I got it, I scuffed it up a bit and then spray painted it with some high-temp BBQ paint. Of course not letting it cure or anything, and with the old paint underneath it quickly flaked away when I started it up, and it got hot for the first time. Within weeks it was covered in rust and didn't really get any better from there. You can sort of see where I had to have it patched up right in the split of the header where the pipes join together.

And this was the main reason I got a new muffler. This huge-ass hole in the bottom.
Hopefully this muffler will last, I don't want to buy one for a really long time. I've heard it's beneficial to heat wrap the exhaust tubes, but on this muffler style there really isn't a lot of pipe. Would it help at all or just be a waste of time?
