Balljoint beam right? total PITA. Are you doing the work and just need a how to?
Basic how to: you need to cut everything off of it. When your done you should have 2 uprights and 2 beam tubes.Drive out the needle bearings. Narrow from the center and add adjusters. The adjuster angle can be set to preload the suspension if you have an idea of how low you want it from the begining.(thats the lil trick most folks dont know about) Next weld the uprights back on,then either cut down your factory side plates or add custom side plates. Put in your urethanes and your done.
Now the real questions: how narrow do you want it? This should be based off of the size rim your going to run. Stock rims 2-4 inches, aftermarket wide rims 4-6. ALL OF THE NARROWING HAS TO BE DONE FROMTHE CENTER ON A BALL JOINT BEAM.
You have to decide upfront what you want. 2 inch beam your better off buying one. 4 inch you can run shocks if you have custom side plates. ( I know a guy that water jets out side plates for hatever you need for reasonable prices)On a 4-6 inch beam shocks will do you no good whatsoever. ditch the needle bearings and put in Bugpack urethanes.
Use Bugpack adjusters as well. NO EMPI PARTS!!!
I can walk you through the whole thing but you gotta decide what you want before you start. I recomend 6 inch narrowed with no shocks as the norm. Best ride quality by far. It will ride almost like stock.4 incher aint bad but you have to get rid of the needle bearings or you'll bounce all over the place. Any narrowed beam with shocks rides like a log wagon. You can go inbetween at 5inches or 5 1/2 also. Like I said you kinda need to know the rims your going to run in advance to figure it out.
