what is the best way to install outside rear view mirrors. My 69 only has the inside mirror. I would like to put on bothe the drivers and passengers sides. i have seen them mounted on the doors and on the door hinges, tell me what you think ( or know ). Thanks for any help and if you know where i can get a cheap set that would be great also. Do not need show quality, just where they will stay on the car and the glass is intacted....Robert

I would mount them on the hinges. The ones that mount to the rain gutter chip away your paint. Hinges are stock look and Albert trim mounted mirrors look cool but are expensive and hard to use. Just my .02

thanks for the information. i was partial to putting them in the hinges. Now i need to know how they are mounted in the hinges. Is it by nut and bolts ir do they just screw down into the little open area in the top of the hinge......Robert

The hinge pin on older bugs was threaded tor mounting mirrors.  The plastic cap on your 69's hinge pin (if it's still there) was to keep out water.  There aren't any threads under it, just a little place for oil to sit when the cap is popped off to lubricate the hinge . . . but I think I've seen an aftermarket threaded hinge pin to let you install older style mirrors on newer bugs.
