Mechanic needed for Passat wagon

A co-worker of mine has a Passat wagon (I want to say '03 or '04 but I am not sure) that needs some work. I think it may have something to do with the water pump. He's looking for someone to diagnose and repair the problem. Anyone want to tackle it on the side before he takes it to the dealer? Rick? Hal?

I can get more information if needed.

What engine?  What's it doing?
What makes him think it's a water pump problem?
Let me know, I just finished the second bus engine melt-down (Type 4 engine), and my schedule has finally opened up again.
