Mechanic for a 1950s bug

« on: February 13, 2015, 09:16:38 AM »
I was down at Autocycle Powdercoating yesterday and Jason, the owner, was telling me about a 1930 model A roadster that he has powder coated two tone and polished the finish out. I saw it last time I was in and it was in incredible shape! Apparently the owner is a 92 year old man who has owned it for like 45 years and it's his last build, etc. well, he told me that the owner asked him about a mechanic for a "1950s bug that he's had forever" and needs to get it back on the road.

I know- no one really works on them anymore... Yada yada... But given this guys background and the fact that the 30 roadster is incredible rare, had no rust and was in incredible shape, I thought someone might want to take a look at this thing, especially if he has owned it for a while.

Any takers? Any recommendations?

I would look at it depending on what he needs done if nobody else will.

But I mainly wanted to comment and ask how the ford looked? I know Jason was going to powdercoat his entire 61 bug at one point but I never saw it if he finished it.

I was under the impression that they wanted someone with qualifications, so I didn't volunteer, but it's most likely within my capabilities. I was thinking of Travis or maybe Rick, if it was enough of a history piece to stir him... Like I said, I'm not sure what it needs, but I'll gladly let Jason know when I go to pick up the (hopefully!) finished trophy rods next week.
