10-4 on that although Linda, ( a recovered SDA) laid a lentle loaf on me one night. It wasn't all that bad. I think I would rather eat a slice of lentle loaf than replace a chipped non-ceramic valve guide.

Leaking oil - A whole LOT of oil

Oscar is off of the jack stands and his wheels and tires are on solid ground.  His heart transplant has been a success.  Having the engine out since November, I could have swore that I would have forgotten how to put it back together or even forget to connect important connections or leave off parts.  After the muffler was installed, I inserted the key and let the gasoline get to the injectors and varoom!!!  The engine roared to life.  I need to get him out on the road to try and build up the hydraulic lifters (clack, clack, clack).  Other than that, Oscar is ready for some driving.   \:D/

So am I.  First thing tomorrow...road test.

I know that I should probably change the oil around 500 miles or so...right?  Any other break-in procedures that I need to be aware of?

It wouldn't hurt to change oil at 500 miles due to not splitting the case. Bound to have gotten some "stuff" inside no matter how careful you are.
As far as any break-in , drive the way you always did and keep your fingers crossed on the lifters shutting up. [-o<
