ignition systems

I am currently working on a Meyers Manx SR that was originally my dad's but is now mine. The engine is a 2110cc and also has a turbo.  Anyhow, I am currently redoing some of the engine (the car has sat for 10 years and it is time to fix/redo some things).  Anyhow, I currently have a modified rabbit ignition installed, but the turbo heat was starting to melt the wiring harness to the exhaust (not good).  I am now looking at different ignition systems, and was wanting some feedback if anybody has used a Mallory ignition, or the MSD ignition system.

I plan on pulling the engine this weekend, and will be in the process of ordering parts in the near future.  Just curious what some of you guys might have and your feelings about the different systems.

THANKS!!

I have never had any experience with Mallory or MSD but I have a good friend who runs the Mallory system in a rail buggy with a stroker engine in it. He is satisfied with it but what is wrong with a basically stock distributor like a "009" ?

I suppose that I could use a 009, but I would have to use the pertronix ignitor if I do.  I have run one of these in a Ghia I use to own, but it would not let me start my engine until it would "cool down" after long trips to/from college (4 hours or so).  As a result I am a little wary of using one of these with the turbo setup due to the ridiculous amount of heat that the turbo dumps off.  Also, I need to have something with as little maintenance as possible, as I currently had to remove the exhaust system just to take the distributor cap off.  It is very tight as far as space goes when working on this motor.  Very tight.  That is why I am leaning towards the mallory or MSD setup.
